Burswood ~ Modo Mio: Cucina Italiana ~ restaurant

Last night we went to Modo Mio Italian restaurant~~~ It is a fairly new restaurant in Burswood and at the moment, very popular! We were actually planning to dine there on Sunday night…I called to book on that night, but it was fully booked until thursday!!!!!! Be sure to book 5 to 7 days in advance :)

The interior has a cream coloured theme, one of the walls is covered with flowing cream curtains, the centre poles that you can see on the right is also curtain. Seats are squishy and comfortable, the table top is LEATHER!! the non stick soft type of leather. The lamps and wall lights are very cute…reminds me of a doll house.

Entree

I’m not sure what it’s called on the menu, the dishes are in Italian though there is a description. I’d probably describe this as garlic muffin, texture is similar to English Yorkshire Pudding. Crispy on outside similar to pastry, and inside is like savoury muffin though it’s slightly undercooked inside so the inside is very moist. VERY yummy

Squid Ink Fettuccine

I ordered this one!!!!!!!! I saw that it had squid ink and I wanted to try squid ink for a longggggg time! It’s homemade fettuccine specially made by the head chef himself. Lots of seafood (mainly scallops and fish), cherry tomatoes…and fresh foam on top…fresh from the squid :D haha I haven’t had a dish with foam on it before but I’ve seen it in a lot of fine dining on the food blogs I follow….so I can't tell you where the foam comes from. Delicious pasta, I don’t think I could taste squid ink though.

Roast Chicken

Lots of roasted items on this dish, you can already see all the ingredients this dish encompasses…I think the best part was the mini black discs which I believe are a type of fried Italian sausage.

Squid Ink Risotto

We actually ordered the italian ham risotto, but this arrived at our table instead. The portion is actually quite BIG! considering most of the other dishes we ordered were very small. I could taste the squid ink in this dish…it tastes salty and vinigary at the same time..it’s also not really sauce textured..the texture is like real ink we right with our pens and it stained the dish really easily. It doesn’t taste fishy though, it had a clean “cant describe it” flavour…very nice though ^^IMG_8828

Seafood Pizza

This was HUGE! bigger than the regular pizza from fast foods so you know it will fill your stomach. We actually ordered 2 pizzas, but after eating this one it was too much, so we cancelled the 2nd pizza. If you have been to Ciao Italia then you will know what this pizza tastes like…very similar in taste and texture. I like! the tentacle was the best part LOL nah kidding, all of it was best eaten together ^^

They also provide fresh baked bread rolls and 3 dips (olive oil, sea salt and vinegar) while waiting for your food to come out.

When you order coffee, they provide sweets and sugar cubes (which aren’t cube shaped, they’re all diff sizes and look handmade)

Tiramisu

Was already so full by this time…surprisinly the tiramisu was extremlyyyy light and the sweetness was very subtle . At the bottom you’ll see more liquid…liqueur! and a very strong one too..I normally can’t taste much liqueur in tiramisu but this one is generous in that portion :)

Affogato

Coffee with a scoop of ice cream….I struggled with finishing the coffee….too strong for me

Italian Coffee

Tastes like the star-aniseed herb or liquorice

Worth visiting, comfortable atmosphere, if you go there and you get John as your waiter…you are lucky! he is a funny person and will make sure to look after you…DON’T FORGET TO GIVE TIPS before you leave!!
